Pictures are taken by David Mcnabey as a part of his Master’s thesis project. The project involves sampling water from Hamilton Harbor and Bay of Quinte during the late summer & fall; a time period harmful algae blooms typically occur.

In December 2023, we sat down with Dennis Bayley, a retired polymer chemist and life member of the Association of Profession of Chemistry in Ontario, to talk about dioxins. Dioxins are among some of the toxic emissions created by barbecues. Dennis’ concern about dioxins started in 1976 following a tragic explosion at a chemical plant in Seveso, Italy. Since then, Dennis has been educating himself and others about the chemistry and toxic affects of dioxins and other barbecue emissions, and their association with neurodegenerative and other diseases.
